TELL THEIR STORY:
Abuse often starts small, with a shove or a slap or hurtful words of anger, precursors paving the way to uncover more deep-seated characteristics. If the small red flags are not uprooted and dealt with, escalation is inevitable.

Visible Hope has heard so many stories of how women, children and sometimes men are punched, beat, dragged, and tormented day in and day
out. More often than not, victims are either critically injured or killed.

It’s such a tragedy for someone to die at the hands of an abuser. An intimate
partner, who has often declared that they love them. Victims hold on to the
desire to be loved despite wanting the abuse to end. It’s often why they continue in the relationship, wanting to believe in that love so badly that they give the abuser chance after chance after chance. Sadly, one of those
chances might be their last.

Whether woman, man, young or old, it is an unexpected, untimely end. And when a loved one is murdered in this manner, their family is left with unanswered questions which often leads to resentment and hatred. Left
unresolved, that bitterness causes anger to infiltrate other areas of their lives. Considering these facts and that most stories go untold, Visible Hope is providing a platform that we hope will help families in their healing process.

Tell Their Stories Incites families across the country to share with the world the aftermath of losing a loved one to domestic violence. It is our hope that victims currently in domestic violence situations and those contemplating
returning to one will choose to GET OUT NOW and STAY OUT!

Leaving an abusive relationship can be just as scary as living in one. It’s the time when victims, whether women and children or men, are most likely to be seriously harmed or murdered by their abuser.

Did you know that, on average, most women will attempt to leave an abusive relationship between five and seven times before successfully and permanently doing so?

That’s why Visible Hope created this platform. It’s so that survivors (mostly women) all across the country can share with the world how they left an abuser, started their healing process and how it has affected them moving forward. It is our hope that other victims will be encouraged to leave while they still have a chance. A chance to share their story instead of someone telling it for them. A chance to say, “The last time was the last time!” You have a voice and we want to hear it!
